Department of Biological Sciences
The Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior doctoral program brings together expert faculty from across multiple academic departments including biological sciences, geosciences, and anthropology, as well as the Human-Environment Systems research center in the College of Innovation and Design. Students in the program have the opportunity to experience Idaho’s rich natural resources and biodiversity which offer a unique landscape for learning and research opportunities. Students also have opportunities to work with local and international organizations including the Intermountain Bird Observatory, the U.S. Geological Survey Snake River Field Station, the Peregrine Fund, Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique, Africa, and others as they collaborate with faculty members and professional field scientists from all around Idaho.
The EEB program has two degree paths to meet your interests and goals.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior – Offers maximum flexibility for student-specific course selection.
- Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior with Global Change Emphasis – Suggests groups of classes that will give students a strong background in contemporary challenges in Global Change Biology. The optional emphasis is built upon strong core training in EEB with the addition of graduate coursework from the Geosciences, Anthropology, Human-Environment Systems, and other disciplines.
