Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science
The M.S. in Environmental Science is an advanced interdisciplinary graduate program for students interested in developing an understanding of various scientific paradigms related to the environment and its management.
In the Environmental Science M.S program, students will develop an understanding of chemistry and biology associated with environmental issues, as well as real-world issues such as environmental monitoring and regulatory affairs. This program combines fundamental sciences with practical problems. We expect graduates to have diverse skills and exhibit and/or engage in the following:
- Academic Excellence: Fundamental understanding of the scientific issues related to the environment.
- Professionalism in the Environmental Sciences: The students develop professional skills through career-focused coursework and research that emphasize current environmental problems.
- Professional Growth: Environmental Science is an evolving field where the associated problems change with time and the political environment. The program adapts to these needs while keeping academic excellence in mind.
