Department of Biological Sciences
The Graduate Program in Biological Sciences at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh provides course work and laboratory or field research that leads to a Ph.D. Students are supported throughout their time at Duquesne with a teaching or research assistantship and a tuition waiver. Students can choose to specialize in one of many areas of biology including microbiology, cell biology, evolutionary biology, neurobiology, physiology, endocrinology, or field biology to list just a few. Our goal is to help you become an independent scientist capable of making a mark on your chosen area of science.
With approximately 35 graduate students in the department, there is ample opportunity to get to know your classmates and establish friendships and collaborations. The low student to professor ratio means that you will receive individual attention in your course and lab work. Cutting-edge research facilities mean that you will have access to the tools you need to explore your chosen area of research. Departmental and University resources exist to hone your teaching skills to help you communicate your science to an audience of any level.
