Description

The School of Biological Sciences offers exceptional opportunities to learn, work, and collaborate across levels of biological organization and styles of research. Faculty research interests span the complete spectrum of biological phenomena and disciplines, from biochemistry to global environmental change. This breadth of research interests has led to development of two focused, yet overlapping, graduate training programs: Molecular, Cellular, and Evolutionary Biology and Ecology Evolution and Organismal Biology.

The Department offers MS and PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (EEOB). Our innovative graduate program in EEOB prepares students for an increasingly diversified and global work environment. Our faculty is internationally respected, with expertise in ecology, evolution, and organismal biology and their intersections. These areas have traditionally attracted highly competitive graduate students who become excellent scholars.

Our program focuses on the ecology and evolution of how organisms interact with their environment.  This program encompasses physiology, behavior, genetics, species-interactions and ecosystem processes.  An in depth understanding of these topics is critical given the changing nature of our planet. We have a vibrant group of faculty, post doctoral fellows, graduate students and undergraduates conducting research both locally and internationally.
