The Department of Biology has a formal program leading to a master’s degree in the areas of Ecology and Evolution and Marine Biology. In the Institute of Ecology and Evolution, the degree is offered in both “course-only” and “thesis” programs, but nearly all students are admitted to the thesis program. In the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, master’s students are primarily admitted into the “thesis” program, but may rarely admit an exceptional student into the “course only” program.
