Department of Entomology
We are a group of students, staff, and faculty that are exploring basic and applied aspects of biology and our chosen field, entomology. Our outstanding permanent and adjunct faculty, high quality facilities that include an insectary, greenhouses, apiary, well-equipped labs, and the 2.5 million specimen M. T. James Entomological Collection, make WSU an exceptional place to study and conduct research.
As a student at WSU, you will have the opportunity to work with world class faculty and other graduate students who have won numerous awards from professional societies both statewide and nationwide, and are recognized worldwide for their contributions.
Because of the size of our program, you can have the flexibility to implement your specialized research project with the guidance of the faculty and the collaboration of other students.
The main areas of emphasis of the Department are biologically-based beneficial and pest arthropod management, human and environmental health as they relate to entomological issues, and teaching.
The Department of Entomology offers graduate programs leading to Doctoral and Master of Science degrees. Upon completion of a Degree Program in Entomology, it is expected that graduates will be have:
