Department of Biology
Students enter our graduate program because of a variety of reasons. They may want to pursue a career in academia or a professional career that requires additional training (e.g., consulting). Some want to enhance their opportunities for promotion in their chosen profession, or simply want to learn more about the exciting work going on at the forefront of the field of biology.
The Department of Biology offers two graduate degrees: the Master of Science (with a thesis) and the Master of Arts (without a thesis). Admission to the program is dependent on the undergraduate GPA, GRE score and reference letters. Each year the Department has Teaching Assistant positions for graduate students, with each position including salary and coverage of tuition.
Graduate students in biology can select from courses in biology, psychology, physics, and environmental science. After obtaining a graduate degree, TCU’s graduate students go on to pursue doctoral degrees and obtain jobs in education and industry.
