Department of Biological Sciences
The Doctoral program in Integrative Biology is designed to prepare students for careers in biology through a rigorous, integrated program of coursework and research. The emphasis of integrative biology is on bringing multiple disciplines to bear on complex scientific questions that are impossible to address using one discipline alone. Faculty members in our department have research interests that encompass molecular and cellular biology, physiology, ecology, evolution, conservation, organismal biology, biochemistry, and genomics. Student research projects benefit from access to a variety of on-campus and off-campus resources and collaborations, and culminate in the preparation and defense of a dissertation, which should reflect a substantial and new contribution to science.
